This installation of the Escape Your Everyday Travel Series will take you to the world’s largest island, Greenland. A rugged, mountainous, and contrasting land, Greenland is the ultimate adventure travel destination. From the Arctic desert landscapes in the far north to Atlantic influences and lush sheep farms in the south, a distinct cultural and climatic diversity shapes the way the locals live and provides for a wealth of unique travel experiences.


Expert Speaker | Lykke Yakaboylu

Lykke YakaboyluMs Yakaboylu grew up in Denmark with a Danish father and a Greenlandic mother. She only visited Greenland a few times during her youth, but after finishing college when all of her class mates went inter railing she went to the little town of Narsaq in South Greenland. The intention was to stay there for nine months, but she ended up staying in Greenland for eight years. She holds an Academy Profession Degree in Leadership & Management

Lykke Geisler Yakaboylu’s current position is: Senior Consultant – Relationship Management with Visit Greenland. She works with international travel agents and tour operators as a part of a growing network in the adventure tourism industry, which is always looking for new emerging destinations.

Ms Yakaboylu has held different positions within the company, which began as Greenland Tourism, and then became Greenland Tourism & Business Council before rebranding as Visit Greenland in 2012. She joined in 1998 as an information officer, having previously worked for a shipping company.

This free monthly adventure travel series brings travel experts to Columbia Sportswear’s downtown Seattle retail store to share their experiences in some of the most exciting and unusual destinations for the adventurous traveler.
